September 7, 6:30 PM - This will be a "Welcome to the new season" meeting, and will be held in-person at Dysart's restaurant on Broadway in Bangor.

November 30 – EMCC Competition – Windows and Doors - Note - This meeting has been scheduled two weeks later than usual because of a scheduling conflict with the Bangor Rec Department.
December 7, 6:00 PM - Christmas Party (Members only and their guests) - Our holiday get together is at Dysart's on Broadway at 6:00. We'll order off of the menu and the bar will be available to us.

February 1 – Speaker - Blaine Chadwick - Drone Photography - New club member Blaine Chadwick will give a presentation on the history of commercial photography using cameras mounted on drones, and how he uses his drone to help highlight the central Maine area's diversity and beauty. He will also describe how he uses his photography for the real estate industry and for property owners to assess their land or to have photos of their land or home for their enjoyment. Blaine has been doing photography for over 55 years, and started using a drone in late 2015. March 7 – Speaker - Emily Burnham - Emily Burnham is a writer and editor based in Bangor, Maine. With more than 20 years of experience in a diverse array of media platforms, she is a reporter and columnist for the Bangor Daily News, and the author of the upcoming nonfiction book, Downtown and Upriver: Bangor in the 1970s (Islandport Press, October 2023). Emily will talk about what went into compiling this book and getting it published.
Emily is a Maine native and 2005 graduate of the University of Maine, and is a longtime chronicler of Maine and New England culture, specializing in subjects including the arts, food, history and pop culture. In addition to her work with the Bangor Daily News, her work has appeared in publications including USA Today, Boston Magazine, Maine Magazine and the Portland Phoenix. She is also a regular guest on radio programs and podcasts, and has shot and edited video projects. She lives in Bangor with her husband and her dog.
March 21 – EMCC Competition – Nature
April 11 – Speaker (Rescheduled from April 4th) - Arend Thibodeau - Arend resides in Harmony, Maine with his wife and has been a professional photographer since 1996. His award-winning photography has been featured in galleries as far away as Greece and he has been published in multiple genres ranging from wildlife to portraiture. As a writer, Arend has published poetry, non-fiction, and academic works. He graduated summa cum laude with a degree in English Literature and he holds a membership in multiple honor societies, including Sigma Tau Delta, The International English Honor Society. When not working in the field, or writing, Arend enjoys teaching photography and playing bass with local rock bands. Arend was a member of the Eastern Maine Camera Club a short while ago. He’ll be talking about his interest in urban photography and two recent books on abandoned places in Maine.
April 18 – EMCC Competition – Open
May 2 - Speaker - Long time MPPA member and new EMCC member Tim Byrne will present a black and white image post processing workshop. This is Tim's bio from his website at https://www.timbyrnephotography.com/about.html : "I am a photographer, a storyteller and a witness to the world in which I have been privileged to travel. The processes of meeting people, participating in events, discovering stories, have all provided me with a lifetime of experiences. Now the joy I have comes from sharing some of these with you and other viewers. My wife Ellen and I live in Bangor, Maine. We have three grown children, two in-law children, and one grandchild, all of whom help make our Maine “the way life should be”. At heart, I’m still a New Yorker and proudly wear a Yankee cap."
May 16 – Awards Night – 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. As part of this special night, club member and assistant club treasurer Suzanne Trussell will present photos and commentary on her recent trip to Dubai. Suzanne and her husband have traveled widely around the globe, and they recently spent time in the Middle East.

Open: Any subject matter in good taste is acceptable. (Back to Top)
Nature: Images submitted in the nature category should not show any evidence of "the hand of man." This includes, but is not limited to, such things as cut grass, cultivated flowers, bird feeders, roads, buildings, or jet contrails in the sky. Exceptions are banded birds and animals whose natural habitat are man-made structures; e.g. barn swallows. (Back to Top)
Windows and Doors: Windows and/or doors as the subject elements of any architectural structure, or in any scene in which you can create a pleasing composition with their shapes. (Back to Top)
Humor: Photos of any subject that convey a sense of humor. Maybe self explanatory, but here is a post by Peter West Carey that may help in creating humorous images.

Macro: Extreme close-up photography, usually of very small subjects and living organisms like insects, in which the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life size. By the original definition, a macro photograph is one in which the size of the subject on the negative or image sensor is life size or greater.
